Age Verification Requirements

Age verification is non-negotiable. Every single customer must be ID'd - no exceptions.

The Rule is Simple:

Check EVERY customer's ID, EVERY time. Even if:

• They look 80 years old
• You've seen them every day for a year
• They're in a hurry
• They get upset about it

Acceptable IDs:

• State-issued driver's license
• State-issued ID card
• US Passport
• Military ID

Not Acceptable:

• Expired IDs (check the date!)
• Photos of IDs on phones
• Student IDs
• Work badges
• Foreign IDs without proper verification

How to Check:

1. 1Ask for ID before starting the transaction
2. 2Check the photo matches the person
3. 3Check the birth date (must be 21+)
4. 4Check the expiration date
5. 5Look for signs of tampering or fakeness
6. 6When in doubt, refuse the sale

VelaPOS Requirement:

The system will prompt you to enter the customer's birth date. You MUST get this from the actual ID - never guess or skip.
